3 Easy Ways to Open Your Frozen Acai Cups
Don't panic—opening a package of frozen acai is easy, and we have three methods to suit your needs and schedule. Follow along!
At Nossa!, we have three ways to open our acai pods:
Thawing
The first method is simple: let the pod thaw naturally overnight in the refrigerator. The next morning, you’ll have the perfect texture for making your acai bowl for breakfast, with no effort at all.
With this liquid formula, you can:
- stir the açaí directly into the porridge, as in this açaí porridge recipe.
- Mix the açaí with yogurt for a quick and nutritious snack.
- use it as a base for a cold dessert, such as in our recipe for acai tofu mousse
You can also use this thawed base to make your acai smoothies.

Rinse under warm water
If you're in a hurry and want to enjoy your acai bowl quickly, a good way to do this is to run the pod under warm water for a few seconds.
If you want an acai bowl with a thick, icy texture, the pulp should remain cold and still firm. If it thaws too much, the result will be more liquid, and you’ll end up with recipes more like our first example.

Cut with a knife
Another method is to cut the pod in half directly with a knife, using a cutting board.
Once cut, you can easily remove the frozen pieces from their plastic packaging. It’s quick and convenient!
Since the pieces will still be large, you’ll need a powerful blender.
