2025 Açaí Harvest: A Look Back at an Exceptional Season in Brazil

This year, acai producers achieved exceptional volumes while maintaining remarkable berry quality, thanks to rigorous agronomic monitoring and highly specialized local expertise.

Acai, the small purple fruit native to the Amazon, continues to appeal to both Brazilian consumers and superfood enthusiasts around the world.

In this article, we offer a comprehensive overview of this season: from the quantity harvested to weather conditions, fruit quality and price trends, to better understand the impact of this harvest on the market and on your consumption.

Record volumes of acai pulp

In 2026, acai pulp production reached 670 tonnes, equivalent to 1.3 million kilograms of fruit. Compared with the previous season, this represents a 76% increase - a significant rise that demonstrates just how dynamic the acai market is.

This growth reflects the return to a more regular harvest after the historic droughts of 2023 and 2024. As a reminder, as explained in our blog article about the 2025 harvest, these prolonged droughts had reduced the growth of acai palms, leading to a decline in harvested volumes.

As a result, the trees needed time to recover, and agronomic monitoring efforts helped optimize productivity for this new year.

An extended harvest calendar

The harvest began at the very beginning of August 2025 and continued until mid-January 2026, covering the entire berry season.

This long harvest period is essential for taking full advantage of the different stages of fruit ripening, which directly influence the quality and flavor of acai pulp.

As every year, optimal quality was observed between September and November, when the berries are at their peak in terms of color, taste and nutritional value.

This is the acai pulp found in acai bowls, smoothies and other popular recipes.

Berry quality: expertise at the service of the fruit

The quality of acai berries improves year after year thanks to the technical and agronomic monitoring provided by local teams, particularly Solène and Wanderson, who worked alongside us in 2025.

Their daily work involves supporting producers, monitoring tree health and optimizing harvesting techniques.

The result: more uniform, juicier fruit, rich in antioxidants, fiber and essential nutrients.

For end consumers, this guarantees high-quality acai, whether for a healthy breakfast, an indulgent dessert or a smoothie.

This year, we are placing our trust in 2 new collaborators, Bruna and Nilma, who are part of our Brazilian team and are taking over the support provided to acai pickers.

Climate and logistical factors

Despite this excellent season, some challenges remain. The trees are still recovering from the 2023 and 2024 droughts, which affected the availability and price of the berries.

Fortunately, no major logistical difficulties disrupted the harvest this year.

Climate conditions and tree health therefore remain decisive factors for the acai market, influencing both the quantity produced and the quality of the fruit.

Acai prices: a justified increase

With global demand continuing to grow, average acai pulp prices increased by 22% compared with last year.

This increase is mainly explained by two reasons:

  • Tree health, which remains fragile after several years of drought.
  • Growing demand in the global market, driven by the popularity of acai in smoothies, bowls and processed products.

It is interesting to note that 90% of acai consumption still takes place in Brazil, showing that the domestic market remains the industry's main driving force.

For professionals and enthusiasts of tropical products, this is a sign that the acai market is booming and that prices reflect this reality.

Why is acai so popular?

Beyond its intense purple color and creamy texture, acai appeals because of its nutritional benefits.

It is rich in antioxidants, fiber and essential fatty acids, and contributes to cardiovascular health, digestion and a stronger immune system. To learn more, read our article about the benefits of acai.

This combination of taste and health benefits explains why acai has become part of dietary habits around the world.

French and European consumers are gradually discovering this food, which is widely consumed locally in Brazil.

Outlook for 2027

Following a successful 2026 harvest, the outlook for next year is encouraging. Producers will continue investing in agronomic support, climate monitoring and harvest optimization.

At Nossa!, we are continuing our work with acai picker cooperatives to train them in best practices for improved crop yields.

For professionals in the food service and agri-food industries, as well as distributors of organic products, this momentum means greater availability of high-quality acai purée and more predictable volumes, despite rising prices.

Conclusion

The 2026 acai harvest marks a turning point for the industry: sharply higher volumes, improved quality and a booming market.

Between the resilience of the trees, agronomic monitoring and growing demand, this season confirms that acai remains an essential fruit, both for end consumers and professionals.

You now know everything about the journey from berry picking in Brazil to Europe!
