Homemade Hot Chocolate with Acai

Homemade hot chocolate with 3 scoops of acai ice cream

We can all agree that a cup of hot chocolate is still one of the simplest pleasures for recharging your batteries in winter.

This homemade hot chocolate has a richer flavor and a smoother texture. And when you add acai, you get a unique, fruitier drink.

In this article, we’ll show you how to combine these two flavors we love so much!

Why you're going to love this recipe:

You’ll love this hot chocolate first and foremost for its simplicity. It’s a recipe with just a few ingredients, quick to make, and the result is instantly comforting.

Acai adds a slightly fruity, rich, and distinctive note that contrasts with the bitterness of dark chocolate. This combination creates a decadent, smooth, and velvety drink.

For professionals, this recipe presents a real opportunity: a modern, one-of-a-kind creation that’s part beverage, part dessert. Acai creates a distinctive flavor profile that will attract and delight your customers.

How do you make a really creamy hot chocolate?

A truly creamy hot chocolate comes down to the ingredients you choose, but also to how you prepare it. To make this rich, traditional hot chocolate, here’s what you need to keep in mind:

Go for high-quality dark chocolate

Chocolate dominates the final flavor. Dark chocolate with a cocoa content between 60% and 70% offers the best balance of flavors. It’s rich enough to provide intensity, but not too bitter. This cocoa content will suit all tastes.

Gently heat the mixture

Be sure not to let the milk boil. Heat it over low heat, then let the chocolate melt in pieces. Be sure to stir the mixture regularly to achieve a nice, glossy finish.

If you want a quick version, you can also heat the milk in the microwave. Just be careful not to let it boil. Then simply add the chocolate pieces and adjust the flavor to your liking.

Spice it up

Cinnamon pairs perfectly with chocolate and acai. It adds a sweet, slightly woody aroma. You might also consider adding vanilla, a little cardamom, ginger, and so on. Any combination works well with chocolate.

We’ve also recently discovered that chili powder goes really well with acai, so why not add a little to this hot chocolate!

These spices transform your drink, give it character, and let you create your own version of the perfect hot chocolate.
