Apple pie, a classic French dessert

Apple pie is deeply rooted in French culinary tradition. It has become a classic thanks to its simplicity and the deliciousness of this recipe.

Apple pie is beloved for its versatility: every region and every family adds its own personal touch, making it unique and perfect for any season.

In the fall, when apples are in season, it’s the ultimate comforting family dessert. It takes just a few ingredients to turn it into a treat that appeals to young and old alike.

The Benefits of Acai in an Autumn Dessert

As acai lovers, we at Nossa! wanted to add a little twist to really bring out the best of the acai and apple combination. The acai adds a tangy note that balances the sweetness of the lightly caramelized apples.

In addition to adding a beautiful purple hue to your dessert, acai is rich in antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins.

This tart is not only delicious but also good for your health, making it the perfect way to end an autumn meal on a light and original note.

Ideas for variations on an apple pie!

  • Tarte Tatin: An upside-down version where the apples are caramelized before being covered with pastry and then baked upside down. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it’s irresistible when served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Apple and Almond Tart: For added crunch, sprinkle the tart crust with slivered almonds, or use an almond paste (such as frangipane) for a richer, more indulgent base.
  • Apple and Salted Caramel Tart: Drizzle a little salted caramel over the apples before baking. The combination of caramel and baked apples creates an unforgettable, indulgent flavor.

And of course, these apple pie variations are just as delicious with our homemade acai coulis, made with just two ingredients.

  • 5 tablespoons of unsweetened applesauce for the pie crust (optional)

Here are the steps for the recipe:

  • Prepare the dough:

Roll out the puff pastry in a pie pan.

Arrange the apple slices in a rosette pattern for an attractive presentation.

  • Add the sugar and margarine:

In a bowl, mix the melted margarine and sugar.

Pour this mixture evenly over the apples to coat them.

If you like cinnamon, sprinkle a little on the apples before putting the pie in the oven.

  • Cooking:

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Bake the tart for about 30 to 35 minutes, until the apples are golden brown and slightly caramelized. Keep an eye on it as it bakes.

Take the pie out of the oven and let it cool.

Once it has cooled, cut the pie.

Just before serving, gently pour the acai coulis over the top, coating the apples evenly.
